Welcome to Number Land

Number Land is a magical place where all the numbers live together in Number Town. Currently, there are 10 episodes to watch that introduce the numbers 1-10. Each episode starts by counting to 10 to help children practice the order of the numbers. Then we look at practising counting skills by counting everyday objects that could be found in the home or Nursery classroom.

After that, we look search for the numbers while being out and about and see if we can spot them. Finally we learn how to write the number  and the acompanying nemonic that will help us do this correctly everytime.

The Story of Number Land

My series entitled 'Number Land' is based on a 2010 book by Gerhard Friedrich, Viola de Galgóczy and Barabara Schindelhauer entitled 'Let's Visit Number Land.'

The story goes...

"Not so far away lies a magical Numberland that stretches from the Sea of Infinity to the Multiplication Mountains. Throughout the land, there are many different enchanting places, so many I can not even name them all. Although there is a special few I would like to mention to you, just in case you ever get a chance to visit that magical Numberland.

Over millions of years, the Sea of Infinity has swept endless grains of sand onto the shore and created a wonderful place. You will find people digging giant holes or building tall sandcastles. And once in a while, visitors are lucky enough to find buried treasure and hidden gems, like clamshells and stranded starfish."

"Leading from the golden shores is the magical Number Lane that takes visitors to a magnificent Number Town. In Number Town, you will find something rather special. Each number lives in a splendid little house with a beautiful garden to play in when the sun comes out."

If you want to find out more about their adventures and why Number Land is so special, then I do suggest you buy the book. It's a lovely introduction to numbers for Nursery aged children. Each number has its own story and is helped by a magnificent princess and hindered by sneaky little Goblin who lives in the Forest of Mistakes.

It has lots of practical idea for developing number skills and a CD with music to sing along with for each number.
